The McAfee Deal
In 1987, John McAfee founded the antivirus software company called McAfee and Associates. Over the next 20+ years, the company went back and forth from being a private company to being a public company.
In 2020, after the company went public at a value of $20 per share, it was acquired by the consortium of private equity companies, sovereign wealth funds and a Canadian pension fund for $14 billion.
